Matt Bruffey
Meet Matt Bruffey, the latest employee spotlight at Protech Associates.

By The Protech Team

The phrase, “there is no such thing as starting too early” fits Matt Bruffey’s career path at Protech, since his time working at the company during his high school and college years eventually led to an accomplished career at Protech. Matt held typical part-time jobs most teens covet in lawn maintenance and fast food, but working under his father, Frank Bruffey, Jr., proved to be invaluable to his development within the company.

Recently named Protech’s director of customer care, Matt relies on the insight he gained from his father and skills acquired while serving as a solutions consultant and project manager to effectively address customers’ needs. In his current position, Matt is responsible for ensuring Protech customers receive the highest level of assistance while utilizing Protech’s application suite. He also manages tier-1 level support staff and escalations at the tier-2 level related to development resources. Matt formed Protech’s Customer Care department with his brother, Kevin Bruffey, in 2005. Additionally, he possesses a Microsoft Dynamics CRM Training certification.

Matt recently received the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriot Award after being nominated by John Carley, a member of customer care department and a first lieutenant in the Marine Corps Reserves. The award honors employers who provide outstanding support to a current reserve member by supporting them as they balance professional responsibilities with a military commitment.

When Matt is away from the office, the Silver Spring, Md. native devotes a majority of his free time to his wife, Melanie, four-year-old son, Matthew, Jr., and his five-month-old son, Beau. A huge fan of contact sports, Matt dreamed of suiting up for the Washington Redskins growing up and played rugby while attending Arizona State University, so he still carves out time to watch football, rugby and college wrestling. Even though Matt’s playing days are behind him, the longtime youth football coach uses the same principles that apply to football and rugby—cohesiveness and open communication—whether he is coaching kids, collaborating with co-workers or helping Protech’s customers.
